These projects can range from site developments to stormwater management plans and roadways and highways as well as utility distribution and municipal improvement projects. The position may also include field work consisting of construction observation, construction inspection, and materials testing.Essential FunctionsDiscuss requirements with professionalsAnalyze survey, mapping and materials-testing data with computer modeling softwareDraw up plan documents, using CAD packagesUse Analysis tools and software to create engineered drawings for proposed improvements that meet client needs and project requirementsEnsure that engineered drawings and project solutions meet local requirements, state laws, and generally accepted engineering best management practicesConsider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis.Make judgments whether projects are workable by assessing materials, costs and time requirementsAssess the environmental impact and risks connected to projectsPrepare documents for bid, and reporting to clients, public agencies and planning bodiesCoordinate, direct and monitor progress during each phase of a projectEnsure sites meet legal guidelines, and health and safety requirements.Present findings to the public on topics such as bid proposals, environmental impact statements, or property descriptions.Manage the repair, maintenance, and replacement of public and private infrastructure.Critical Inspection of work performed by Contractors and Subcontractors on the job siteObserving work is performedConstruction Inspection consisting of field oversight of contractor's work (documenting quantities and compliance with plans & specifications)Additional FunctionsProject CoordinationPhysical Demands of PositionWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit, stand and walk, use hands and fingers. The employee occasionally must reach above and below shoulder level, and lift/push/pull and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
