MEP Project Engineer I
OverviewMortenson is currently seeking a MEP Project Engineer I that will be responsible for providing analysis, management, and resolution for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) field coordination issues with project team members and participants.ResponsibilitiesInterpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons; implement the pre-construction quality plan and obtain/maintain necessary construction permitsDevelop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Non-Conformance Report, and equipment coordination matrices; manage contract documents and lead the 3-D coordination processEstablish handling procedures for electronic documents, including RFIs and correspondence; incorporate processes and procedures that support the project closeout phaseManage all aspects of testing and inspection processes for the construction quality management program, including implementing the three-phase inspection system and assisting the commissioning processManage submittals, set up register, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate submittal processing, and expedite submittals to ensure material deliveries align with the project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliersProvide periodic updates of the submittal register to the customer or architect; coordinate subcontractor details, verify insurance, prepare paperwork, and request final payment; lead project closeout activitiesDevelop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders; implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents; incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation in contract document revisionsDetermine alternative work methods, coordinate safety and compliance, maintain schedule timelines, and effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experienceMinimum one year of construction experience, preferably with a Mechanical or Electrical ContractorCurrent driver's licenseDetail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasksBasic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesStrong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsIntermediate Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skillsPositive and professional attitude with strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesActive listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedbackAbility to travel up to 100%BenefitsMedical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverageDental plan401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson matchPaid time off, holidays, and other paid leavesEmployer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insuranceNo-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resourcesTuition reimbursementAdoption AssistanceGym Membership Discount ProgramThe base pay range for this role is $84,100 - $113,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
