Position Type: Long Term Educational Aide or Paraprofessional/Classroom Aide Date Posted: 4/1/2026 Location: Reading, OH Position Title: Long-Term Special Education Aide Location: Reading Community City Schools / Reading, OH Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment / Full-Time or Part-Time Pay Rate: $19.87/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dedicated and skilled Long-Term Special Education Aides to support students with disabilities by providing academic, behavioral, and functional assistance under the direction of a licensed special education teacher. This role helps ensure students can access the curriculum, participate meaningfully in the school environment, and work toward their individualized education program (IEP) goals. Key Responsibilities Instructional SupportProvide one-on-one or small-group academic assistance as directed by the special education teacherReinforce instructional concepts, accommodations, and modifications outlined in students' IEPsSupport students during general education classes, resource rooms, or specialized settingsAssist with implementing behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports Student Care & SupervisionMonitor students to ensure safety, engagement, and appropriate behavior throughout the school daySupport students during transitions, lunch, recess, specials, and transportation as neededAssist with personal care tasks (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility) when required and appropriate Behavioral & Social-Emotional SupportModel and reinforce appropriate social skills, communication strategies, and self-regulation techniquesUse de-escalation strategies and follow established protocols for crisis interventionTrack and report behavioral data to support progress monitoring Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with special education teachers, general education teachers, therapists, and administratorsMaintain confidentiality and professionalism regarding student informationCommunicate observations, concerns, and progress to supervising staff Documentation & ComplianceCollect data on academic and behavioral goals as directedAssist with preparing instructional materials, adapted resources, and classroom supportsFollow all district policies, safety procedures, and legal requirements related to special education Required QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or equivalentValid educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations)Clean criminal background checksAbility to follow teacher direction, adapt to student needs, and remain patient and calmFlexibility, empathy, and a commitment to student growthStrong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skillsPhysical ability to support students who may require lifting, mobility assistance, or crisis interventionAdherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators Preferred QualificationsExperience working with children, especially those with disabilitiesFamiliarity with intervention strategies, behavior supports, or small-group instructionAdditional training or certification in education or child development What We OfferConsistent schedule for the duration of the assignmentOpportunities to build long-term experience in educationPotential pathways to other school-based rolesOptions for minor medical benefitsEnrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS) For more information about Dedicated School Staffing, please visit our website: www.dedicatedschoolstaffing.com.
