Position Summary At Parker Pet Clinic, our Certified Veterinary Technicians play a vital role in elevating the standard of care we provide to both our patients and their families. As a startup clinic, we are looking for team members who are excited to be a part of building something new, meaningful, and community-driven from the ground up. This position offers the opportunity to help shape the culture, medicine, and future of our hospital while working alongside a passionate team dedicated to exceptional patient care. Candidates should have experience, or a strong interest, in exotic animal medicine, including but not limited to birds, small mammals, reptiles, goats, pigs, and zoo or wildlife species. We believe strong relationships are built through trust, consistency, and genuine care.Other Key AttributesCompassion and empathy for pets and their familiesPride in high-quality work and attention to detailAdaptability in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentConfidence in decision-making and critical thinkingDesire to contribute to and strengthen our practice culture and growthHaving the drive to be a part of a new business and wanting to grow with it Key Responsibilities & Patient Care/ Technical SkillsServe as a patient advocate, delivering compassionate veterinary nursing carePerform physical assessments and effectively communicate findings to veterinariansFollow low-stress handling methodsAdminister medications and treatments (IV, IM, SC, PO, topical, etc.)Calculate medication dosages accuratelyPerform diagnostics: lab sample collection, radiographs, cytology, urinalysis, etc.Use and maintain medical equipment (anesthesia machines, monitors, infusion pumps, etc.)Provide surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and post-op recoveryAssist with dentistry, dental radiographs, and dental chartingPerform emergency procedures as directed (CPR, catheterization, airway support, etc)Comfortable in handling and holding exotic speciesClient Communication & EducationBuild trusting relationships with clients through clear communication and educationConfidently discuss preventive care, treatment plans, and home-care instructionsCreate and review estimates with clientsAdmit and discharge patients while ensuring understanding and comfortAddress client concerns with compassion and professionalismHospital Operations & Team SupportMaintain clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment areasFollow all hospital protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirementsSupport inventory management and controlled substance documentationParticipate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement effortsContribute positively to Parker Pet Clinic’s warm, community-focused cultureSupport veterinarians to enhance efficiency and flow throughout the dayTake the initiative to anticipate needs and support the team proactivelyComplete other tasks that support daily operations and improve the client experienceWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs independentlyExposure to typical veterinary conditions: noise, odors, chemicals, radiation (within regulatory limits), and possible bites/scratchesAbility to stand, sit, or move for extended periodsFlexibility with scheduling based on hospital needsAbility to communicate clearly with clients and team membersAbility to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in stressful moments
