What is the position?This role serves as the lead accounting professional for the organization, operating in a highly hands-on capacity within a lean environment. As the Controller, you will own the full accounting cycle while helping build and refine processes as the company continues to grow.This is not a large team leadership role. Instead, it is ideal for someone who enjoys being both strategic and tactical, working as a department of one (with potential support of one additional team member over time).What are the responsibilities?As the Controller, you will:Own the full-cycle accounting process from day-to-day transactions through financial reportingExecute and manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timelinessPrepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAPHandle core accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, billing, and general ledger activityPartner with leadership to provide financial insights, reporting, and decision supportMaintain and improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows in a growing environmentServe as the point of contact for external auditors and support audit preparationEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements and filingsEvaluate systems and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and scalabilityWhat are the requirements?Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field5+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrior experience in a hands-on or small team accounting environmentStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reportingExperience in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment preferredExperience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similarStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsCPA preferred but not requiredYou would be really happy here if:You enjoy owning the full accounting function rather than delegating itYou are comfortable rolling up your sleeves and handling both strategic and transactional workYou thrive in a lean, growing environment where you can build structure and improve processesYou like having visibility into the business and partnering directly with leadership
