Mainframe Application Developer - ModernizationCTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe Application Developer - Modernization position for our client. Location: Onsite 4 days per week in either New York, NY or Pittsburgh, PA Duration: 6 monthsDuties:Develop, enhance, maintain, and modernize mainframe applications supporting critical business functions.Analyze existing mainframe applications and identify opportunities for modernization, optimization, and improved performance.Support application modernization initiatives, including language migration and integration with non-mainframe environments.Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2.Design and implement APIs and integration solutions connecting mainframe applications with distributed and cloud-based environments.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, architects, business stakeholders, and technology teams to define and implement modernization solutions.Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.Contribute to the adoption of modern technologies such as Java and/or Python alongside existing mainframe technologies.Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and ongoing application support.Ensure solutions meet organizational standards for quality, security, performance, and reliability.Skills:Strong mainframe application development skills.Proficiency with COBOL, CICS, and DB2.Experience with application modernization and transformation of APIs and integration between mainframe and non-mainframe environments.Experience with application optimization and performance improvement.Exposure to or experience with Java and/or Python in conjunction with mainframe technologies.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.Experience:10+ years of industry experience.Extensive experience developing and supporting mainframe experience with CICS, COBOL, and DB2.Experience participating in application modernization initiatives, including one or more of the following: Language migration. Mainframe integration with non-mainframe environments using APIs. Application optimization. Use of Java and/or Python with mainframe technologies.Experience in the financial services and/or cash management industry strongly preferred.Experience working in collaborative, enterprise technology environments.Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
