Mechanical Engineering Intern - Summer 2026

This is an opportunity for engineering students to gain real-world experience while working at a world-class electrical motor manufacturer. Support design, development, and testing of various brushed and brushless DC motors, stepper motor-based linear actuators, drives, and complete custom automation sub-systems. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving challenging technical problems by applying engineering principles learned in the classroom, and by collaborating with experienced engineers, technicians, and various departments, and will have a desire to grow their 3D CAD and simulation capabilities.What you will do:Work with engineers to design, test, document, and validate new productsBuild, document, and validate the electro-mechanical performance of motors, drives, and circuitryAlleviate design issues and/or improve designs through the engineering change procedureExecute tests, analyze data, and generate technical reports to inform managementCreate CAD models, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorksLearn to run electromagnetic, thermal, and/or stress simulations in ANSYSDesign test and assembly fixtures to aid manufacturing of productWhat we are looking for:REQUIREDPursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalentSophomore or higher-level standingCoursework or experience related to mechanical engineering principlesProficiency using Microsoft OfficeGood verbal and written communication skillsAbility to organize thoughts, files, and data wellTeam player with a highly proactive and positive attitude with the ability to work individually or in a team as neededPREFERREDKnowledge or interest in electrical motors and/or rotating equipmentAbility to interpret drawings and schematicsExperience working in a lab or shop environmentHands-on capability with typical electrical test and measurement equipmentFamiliar with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysesWORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDSReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
