Elementary and Secondary SchoolsSchool and Employee Bus TransportationChild Care ServicesTechnical and Trade SchoolsResidential Intellectual and Developmental Disability, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse FacilitiesTitle: School PsychologistTERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Per DiemREPORTS TO: Building Principal TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:Provide regular counseling to students in need of social and emotional support in an educational setting; this includes both mandated counseling to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as well as individual and group counseling to other students as needed.Act as liaison between community-based organizations, students and their families, and the BOCESCreate programs for students to promote emotional and mental healthRespond to day-to-day issues and unanticipated student crises during the school dayFacilitate the completion of functional behavioral assessments (fba) and behavior intervention plans (bip) REQUIREMENTSWorking knowledge of the instructional and social needs of students at risk and students with disabilitiesAbility to design and implement in-school prevention programming according to current best practicesAbility to simultaneously manage a regular counseling schedule and triage crisesAbility to prioritize multiple competing urgent tasksIdeal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, expertise in behavioral modification, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and special education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Certified School Psychologist
