As we scale, we are building a team of curious engineers who care deeply about product quality and customer success, and who want to grow their careers in a hands-on, collaborative environment.Position SummaryWe are seeking an entry-level Applications & Customer Support Engineer to join our Reno, NV team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent mechanical engineering graduate to apply their analytical skills in a fast-paced, customer-facing role. You will be the technical bridge between our customers and our engineering team — performing failure analysis on returned sensors, fielding customer inquiries by phone and email, and helping us scale our knowledge base as the business grows.This entry-level position is intended to be a starting point, not a ceiling. As Halogen Systems continues to grow, this role can lead to other engineering roles at the company — in Applications, Field, Design, Manufacturing, or Test Engineering — when and if the right candidate is ready.Key Responsibilities• Returned Sensor Analysis: Receive, inspect, and perform root-cause failure analysis on sensors returned from the field. Document findings, identify trends, and feed insights back to engineering and manufacturing teams.• Customer Phone & Email Support: Serve as a first point of contact for customer technical inquiries. Diagnose application issues, walk customers through installation and troubleshooting steps, and ensure each interaction is handled professionally and promptly. • Knowledge Base Development: Help build and maintain our internal and customer-facing knowledge base — writing troubleshooting guides, FAQs, installation notes, and application bulletins based on real customer interactions.• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales to communicate customer feedback, support warranty decisions, and contribute to continuous product improvement.• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized records of returns, RMAs, customer cases, and analysis results. Generate periodic reports on field issues and support trends.• Applications Engineering Support: Assist with sensor selection, application sizing, and on-boarding guidance for new and existing customers.Required Qualifications• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline).• Fast Learner• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, returns, and documentation tasks in parallel.• Clear, professional written and verbal communication — comfortable speaking with customers on the phone.• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail.• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning new software tools.• Hands-on aptitude — willing to disassemble, inspect, and test hardware as part of the failure analysis process.• Authorized to work in the United States and able to work on-site at our Reno, NV facility.• Willingness to do what is needed to get the job done.Preferred (Nice-to-Have)• Exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).• Basic understanding of statistical methods or data analysis tools (Excel, Python, or MATLAB).• Prior customer-facing or technical-support experience.What We Offer• Compensation: $65,000 – $85,000 annual base salary, commensurate with experience.• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.• Paid time off and company holidays.• Hands-on mentorship from a seasoned engineering team.• Career Growth: This entry-level role is designed as an entry point to a broader engineering career at Halogen Systems.
