Structural Bridge Designer/EngineerVHB's structural engineering group plays a vital role in developing and enhancing connectivity through infrastructure projects such as complex bridge and interchange designs, rehabilitation and inspection, pedestrian walkways, and transit stations. This diverse range of structural engineering services helps improve mobility for the traveling public.
VHB is growing its Southeastern region and is in search of a Structural Bridge Designer/Engineer in our Atlanta, GA location. In this position, you would play an integral role in the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation related structural projects - from highway to pedestrian to rail. The ideal candidate should possess a "can-do" attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and fun environment.

ResponsibilitiesPerform structural modeling and design for bridge and other transportation infrastructure projects
Prepare construction documents, including plans, estimates, and calculation packages
Provide technical support to structural engineering staff
Provide project management support
Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews
Skills & AbilitiesStrong technical skills in bridge/structural design
Experience developing design reports, plans, and construction cost estimates
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated and commitment to learning
Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking
Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
Bentley OpenBridge and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a strong plus
Minimum Qualifications1-3 years of structural engineering experience
BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
Engineer in Training certification
Preferred Qualifications3-5 years of professional structural/bridge design experience
PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred
Project experience with GDOT
Familiarity with any of the following structural engineering software is a strong plus (i.e. Mathcad, AASHTOWare, GDOT Bridge Software or Design Tools, FB-MultiPier, Midas Civil, ATLAS, STAAD Pro, LARSA 4D, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, FDOT Structures Design Programs, etc.)
Model-based design experience is a strong plus:
Bentley OpenBridge and OpenRoads
AutoCADD Civil 3D and Revit/Infraworks/Inventor
