Laboratory Aide

Performs general laboratory tasks, maintains inventory and equipment and orders supplies and parts, performs quality control testing, and assists other staff.Biological SciencesThe University of Pittsburgh Department of Biological Sciences is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support the preparation, maintenance, and organization of lab materials and equipment for undergraduate biology lab courses.Essential FunctionsPrepares media, buffers, reagents, and sterile supplies for instructional lab use. Assists with setup, cleaning, sterilization, and restocking of laboratory materials. Operates, cleans, and calibrates equipment such as autoclaves, pipettes, centrifuges, and incubators. Maintains laboratory inventory and assists in receiving, unpacking, and organizing supplies.Supports troubleshooting of lab setups and protocols under direction of lead technician. Disposes of waste and biohazard in compliance with waste disposal guidelines.
