Youth Development Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

Many educators waste their time battling bureaucracy. They draft lesson plans that go unread. They endure staff meetings that produce no results. You realized long ago that this isn't what the work should be. The work is about the student standing in front of you.At Alpha, academic instruction is handled by software. Adaptive applications guide each learner through content at an individualized pace. There are no lectures, no assignments to take home, no papers to grade. This structure allows you to focus on what truly transforms outcomes: facilitating life skill workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking ability, concentration, and feedback literacy, then providing individual coaching to maintain their motivation and ensure they meet learning targets. You'll spend half your time facilitating group sessions. The other half is spent in direct conversation with a student, analyzing their Coachbot metrics to pinpoint exactly where progress has stalled and why.Following each workshop, students complete a mastery-based evaluation. You should expect positive ratings from over 90% of participants. Every student should be progressing consistently in their applications. These aren't stretch goals; they define the standard. Setting high expectations is how you demonstrate belief in their potential. Through this process, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops that teenagers actively want to attend, using advanced learning technology effectively, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. Our Brownsville campus is located adjacent to SpaceX. The cutting edge of education meets the cutting edge of aerospace, and you'll be the one fulfilling Alpha's central commitment: students who are enthusiastic about learning, progress at double the typical rate, and acquire capabilities that have real-world value. If you've been searching for an educational environment that operates according to your vision of how learning should happen, you've found it.What You Will Be DoingFacilitating structured one-hour life skill workshops with high school students covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, then evaluating mastery via a Test2Pass assessment protocolConducting daily coaching sessions that leverage Coachbot data to engage with individual students, diagnose learning obstacles within their apps, and help them overcome barriers to progressCollaborating with students to develop personalized motivational approaches, including reward systems and incentives that encourage independent advancement in their academic applicationsPreparing by reviewing curriculum materials and session plans, then adjusting your approach in real time based on student engagement and energyWhat You Won’t Be DoingDelivering instruction in academic content areas.
