Maintenance Team Member- LIVE IN OPTION
The Temple – Congregation Adath Israel Brith Sholom in Louisville is Kentucky’s oldest and largest Jewish congregation. OVERVIEW: The Maintenance Team Member will assist the Maintenance team (currently comprised of two full-time members) to provide the maintenance and event/program set up needs of The Temple.
POSITION TYPE & SCHEDULE: This position may be full-time or part-time, with a live-in option available. Start date may be immediate or in May 2026 pending selection.
Option 1: Full-Time
35–40 hours per week
Flexible scheduling that includes evenings and weekends, based on programming needs
Weekend availability is required for Shabbat services and programming as scheduled
Option 2: Part-Time
12–35 hours per week
Weekend availability is required for Shabbat services and programming as scheduled
Creative scheduling arrangements may be made to ensure programming needs are met
Can be part of Option 1 or 2: Live-In Option
A two-bedroom apartment within The Temple building is available rent-free as the candidate’s personal residence in exchange for property management responsibilities
A signed housing lease agreement, provided by The Temple, is required.
The Maintenance Team Member reports to the Maintenance Team Leader and the Executive Director.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the daily cleaning and operational needs of The Temple, including but not limited to:
Cleaning of the common areas, sanctuary, chapel, auditorium, kitchen, administrative offices,
JLAB/Religious School classrooms, and the Klein Center.
NOTE: housekeeping services may be performed by a cleaning company vendor
pending candidate availability.
Setting up tables and chairs for events and session programming and clean-up/reset of area daily/weekly.
Assist the Maintenance Team Leader with projects as needed, including general repairs and upkeep and some electrical and plumbing needs.
Ensuring inventory supplies are kept current.
Attend weekly maintenance team meeting with The Temple team.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
Have the ability to work non-traditional hours: weekends, evenings and Shabbat (Friday evening – Saturday evening) and Jewish holiday services.
Be self-motivated with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Have strong attention to detail and pride in the work.
Be capable of working efficiently without compromising our standards for cleanliness.
Adhere to strict health and safety requirements.
Have the physical strength and stamina necessary to accomplish the daily tasks.
Have previous professional cleaning experience.
Work respectfully and positively within The Temple’s mission as a welcoming, inclusive, and caring community.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $18 - $20/per hour.
