About Tosh Farms Tosh Farms is a family-owned and operated, multi-entity, vertically integrated agricultural enterprise operating at significant scale across crop production, swine production, and logistics. 38,000+ sows producing 1M+ hogs annually 95+ finishing hog sites + 9 sow farms 8,300 tons of feed produced weekly Integrated transportation fleet (100+ semis, 250 trailers) The business operates through three synergistic entities: Tosh Farms (Crop Production) Tosh Pork (Swine Production) Bacon by Gosh (Transportation & Logistics) This is a highly operational, asset-intensive, data-driven environment with a strong foundation. Position Overview Tosh Farms' finance function is powered by a best-in-class technology stack, anchored by Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and enhanced with Jet Reports for automated, real-time financial and operational reporting. We have fully integrated core production systems—including feed ordering and delivery, ingredient usage and ration production, trucking logistics, scale house operations, and fleet maintenance, creating a seamless flow of data across the enterprise. Key Responsibilities Maintain in-depth collaborative relations with all members of the management team. Manage accounting, human resources, and legal areas of the business (along with a tight connection to the IT department). Lead the annual budget process for all entities – incorporate operating assumptions, prepare detailed expense budgets, and consolidate for reporting to ownership and lenders. This includes income statements, balance sheets and capital spend budgets. Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives. Forecast accrual income for the year during Q1 and update the forecast monthly in order to minimize taxable income. This forecast is the basis for a critical revenue deferral date. Negotiate annual insurance coverages – to include: 1) high-deductible Property & Casualty and Workers comp, and 2) partially self-funded health insurance. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies. Coordinate the annual financial audit with the company controller. Prepare and maintain meaningful and timely financial and management reports (including KPIs for all levels within the company. Develop recommendations (strategic and tactical) based on accepted financial protocol, financial ratios, and strategic business goals. Provide analysis and recommendations to deal with marketing price risk, input cost risk, production risk, legal risk, and interest rate risk. Provide pro forma analysis of potential new business initiatives/opportunities. Negotiate credit line renewals with lending partners. Present annual financial results to lending group during onsite visit. Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all systems and functions. This includes the preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements. Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting. Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns, required reports, and notices. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. Design and maintain internal financial controls to prevent theft and fraud. Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements. Review all month-end closing activities, including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet, income statement, and P/L reconciliations. Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, software, and control systems. Oversee cash management. Qualifications At least five years’ experience as CFO or equivalent, preferably in an Ag/pork or manufacturing organization with gross sales that are relevant to our organization. Proven track record of success in a complex, vertically integrated company. Experience in building high-performing teams and developing people. A true love of accounting and tracking business performance - CPA or similar designation would help but not required if you know your stuff! Working knowledge of finance and accounting software packages (like Microsoft Business Central). You must be an Excel “whiz” with an in-depth understanding of data management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills. Experience in the Agricultural industry with pork and crop systems preferred but not required. Comfortable in a direct, no-nonsense culture where action and execution matter. Experience in family business preferred but not required.
