Salary: 180-200KRemote, preferably based in the NYC metro areaFullmind was founded a decade ago with the mission of assisting two New York schools in serving their most vulnerable students: homebound students with behavioral challenges and medically fragile children. Today, Fullmind operates in all 50 states and offers a diverse range of solutions, all of which have evolved through close collaboration with our school and district partners.The Director of Finance & Accounting will own the day‑to‑day finance and accounting operations of a growing company. This role is a critical builder & operator position, responsible for establishing scalable accounting processes, leading the company through its first external audit, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting as the business scales. Reporting to the COO, this role is intentionally hands‑on and execution‑focused. The Director will serve as the senior internal owner of accounting and finance operations, while partnering with external advisors and leadership on higher‑order initiatives as the company grows. This role will manage a small team.ResponsibilitiesFinancial OperationsOwn all core accounting functions, including general ledger, revenue recognition, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and cash managementLead the monthly and year‑end close processes; establish close calendars, reconciliations, and documentation standardsEnsure accurate, timely financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAPMaintain accounting policies, procedures, and supporting documentationAudit ReadinessLead preparation for and execution of the company's first external financial statement auditServe as the primary day‑to‑day point of contact for external auditors & advisors to ensure audit readiness and complianceIdentify and remediate gaps in documentation, controls, and processes in a pragmatic, right‑sized mannerInternal Controls & Process ScalingDesign and implement scalable accounting workflows and internal controls appropriate for a growth‑stage companyImprove efficiency, automation, and repeatability of finance and accounting processesBuild infrastructure to support 2x+ revenue growth without over‑engineeringFinancial Planning & AnalysisOwn the annual budgeting process and forecastingPrepare cash flow forecasts and basic financial modelsDeliver variance analysis and KPI reporting for leadership decision‑makingPartner with the COO on financial insights related to growth, hiring, and operating leverageTeam & Vendor ManagementLead and develop a small internal accounting team, as well as manage outsourced partnersEstablish clear roles, accountability, and documentation within the functionEnsure smooth collaboration across operations, legal, and leadership teamsRequirementsRequired QualificationsCPA required8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership rolesDemonstrated experience preparing a company for its first external auditProven track record of scaling accounting and finance operations during periods of rapid growth (2x revenue and beyond)Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and strong technical accounting expertiseStrong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skillsPrevious management experiencePreferred ExperienceBackground in high‑growth startups, scale‑ups, or PE/VC‑backed companiesExperience with ERP implementations or major financial system upgradesExposure to fundraising, diligence, or board‑level financial reportingPublic accounting (Big 4 or national firm) experienceExecutive ExpectationsComfortable operating at both a strategic and hands‑on levelAble to bring structure and discipline without slowing momentumHigh integrity, accountability, and ownership mindsetBenefitsFullmind offers employees a highly collaborative, transparent, and remote work environment.
