This role is ideal for a senior audit leader with state and local government and/or nonprofit experience, preferably from a Big 4 or other large national or regional firm, who is looking for a leadership position with meaningful client impact, technical depth, and firm‑wide influence - without equity buy‑in.This individual will serve as an engagement partner, quality reviewer, and trusted advisor to public sector clients across California and the western U.S.Qualifications:CPA license (active)10+ years of public accounting experience, including significant partnership‑track or partner‑level responsibilityDemonstrated experience serving as engagement partner or EQCR on public sector auditsStrong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, GASB, and Single Audit requirementsBackground at a Big 4 or large national/regional CPA firm is strongly preferredProven ability to lead teams, communicate with senior stakeholders, and exercise professional judgmentKey Responsibilities:Serve as Engagement Partner for government and nonprofit audits, including planning, risk assessment, execution oversight, and report issuanceProvide technical leadership on audits performed under GAAS, GAGAS (Yellow Book), and Single Audit / Uniform GuidanceReview financial statements, audit documentation, and auditor’s reports to ensure quality, compliance, and clarityAct as a technical resource and mentor to managers and senior managersSupport client relationships, including audit committees, boards, and executive managementAssist with client acceptance/continuance, independence considerations, and complex accounting or reporting issuesContribute to practice growth through proposal review, thought leadership, training, and selective business developmentPublic Sector FocusExperience with one or more of the following is strongly preferred:State and local governments (cities, counties, special districts)Transportation authorities, utilities, education agencies, and healthcare entitiesNonprofits and federally funded organizationsSingle Audits and Uniform Guidance complianceGASB financial reporting and Yellow Book requirements
