Software Engineer – API Integration & eSIM
Job SummaryCaterpillar is seeking a Software Engineer to support 5G eSIM and telecom system integration initiatives. The role will focus on defining technical requirements, coordinating software development, integrating and testing REST APIs, and working with internal teams and external vendors to automate eSIM management and connectivity operations.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate technical requirements, user stories, and functional specifications in Microsoft DevOps.Analyze vendor APIs and coordinate API integration with Caterpillar systems.Define and document integration processes and system requirements.Plan, coordinate, and execute API testing with internal engineering teams and external vendors.Troubleshoot integration issues and coordinate resolution with development teams.Track project activities, requirements, testing, and progress through DevOps.Collaborate with Telecom, Systems, Backend, Onboard Software, and Dealer Portal teams.Coordinate testing sessions with vendors and engineering teams, including teams in India.Support automation of eSIM commands, activities, and status management.Participate in project meetings, technical discussions, and status updates.Required Skills2–4 years of software engineering, software testing, validation, or integration experience.Experience writing technical requirements and user stories.Hands-on experience with REST APIs and API testing.Experience with Microsoft DevOps.Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Strong software testing and troubleshooting skills.Basic knowledge of SQL, databases, and software development concepts.Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel.Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and coordination skills.Preferred SkillsExperience with telecom, IoT, connectivity, or eSIM technologies.Experience working with external vendors and API integrations.Familiarity with Comprion test systems.Experience in validation or test engineering environments.Top 3 SkillsTechnical Requirements & User StoriesSoftware/API TestingProgram/Project Coordination
