Software Engineer

Position SummaryThe Software Engineer will be working as a part of a team that creates and implements technology utilized by Light & Wonder to support internal products as well as customer centric innovation. The position holder will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and integrating software products alongside a global team of engineers.Essential Job FunctionsWork with a team to develop innovative features and functionality for Light & Wonder products, utilities, and toolsResearch new technologies to modernize and elevate existing Light & Wonder productsWork on refactoring, improving, and optimizing existing code baseDesign and build libraries that will be shared with other Light & Wonder productsEmbrace best coding practices, such as secure coding guidelines, test driven development, continuous integration workflowEmbrace best coding practices, such as secure coding guidelines, test driven development, continuous integration workflowProvide prompt resolution to bugs/issues by using debugging skillQualifications/Training ExperienceGaming industry experience is preferred but not requiredKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesDemonstratable Knowledge of C# and C++Knowledge of Client-Server Architecture basicsDemonstratable knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Concepts and PrinciplesFamiliarity with Database ArchitectureHave a high degree of comfort with software development tools such as IDEs/compilers, debuggers, profilers, and version control systemsExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishExcellent teamwork skillsExcellent problem-solving skills and an analytical mindsetQualificationsPreferred QualificationsDemonstratable Knowledge of SQL query writingFamiliarity with Web UI designKnowledge of Operating System’s basicsKnowledge of PowerShellFamiliarity with development tools such as Visual studio, Perforce, Git, Jira, etcEducationUniversity (4 years) degree in Computer Science or Information SystemsPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
