The Purchaser provides procurement support for all assigned locations in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and project goals. The position utilizes best-in-class strategic sourcing and techniques to identify, qualify, solicit, select, and negotiate with vendors to obtain materials and services from vendors at the best value for the company with consideration given to cost, safety, quality, reliability, and delivery requirements per the company's need. The Purchaser is responsible for purchasing materials and supplies. Duties of the position will include, but not be limited to:Work with Purchasing Manager to develop and implement purchasing processes, procedures, and practicesPurchase jobsite materials, tools, and supplies with high attention to detailSource best price/quality/serviceCollaborate with the purchasing team and field personnelArrange shipments with LTL, HOT SHOT, or Courier services to ensure timely deliveriesObtain quotes for cost comparison and lead timesCoordinate field delivery or will callsSource and evaluate potential suppliers and make recommendations to managementAssist Project managers in sourcing/buying materials for new projectsWork cooperatively with others in a Team environmentInteract with suppliersDiscover and resolve material, shipping, and invoicing errorsMaintain accurate recordsPO database and tracking Track/ follow up on ordersResearch productsMaintain product & vendor databaseOther duties as assignedPhysical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerLight lifting 15 lbs. or lessSkills and Qualifications:Recent Construction Purchasing experience required (as a buyer)High school diploma or equivalent requiredKnowledge of pipe and fittings is not required but preferred.Analytical thinking ability.Negotiation and business relations skills.Excellent verbal and written communication.Proficient Computer Skills: MS Word, Excel, , Smart Sheet experience a plusStrong organizational skills and ability to multitask.Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.Solid problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.Positive attitude and excellent people skills.
