Residential Experience Coordinator
Elmhurst University is seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional to join our Residence Life team. This live-on position is responsible for the strategic vision, daily operations, and community development of a residential program serving approximately 900 students across six residence halls, two apartment communities, and 14 campus houses.The Residential Experience Coordinator oversees facilities coordination, budgeting, and staff supervision for two residential communities, fostering a safe, inclusive environment that supports student development and institutional retention goals.The start date for this position is anticipated to be during the beginning of July 2026.POSITION STATUS: ExemptSALARY RANGE: $38,000-43,000 This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Staff SupervisionSelects, trains, supervises, and evaluates Resident Advisor (RA) staff for two residential communitiesPromotes RA visibility and proactive community engagement throughout the residential facilitiesMaintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility to residents and staffCrisis Management & Student ConductParticipates in the 24/7/365 on-call emergency response rotationServes as a Student Conduct Officer, managing lower-level violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Housing Contract while maintaining accurate student recordsProvides conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and appropriate follow-up referrals for residential studentsOperations & ProgrammingOversees all building programming initiatives, collaborating with campus partners to advance student successManages administrative tasks including check-in/out processes, room changes, and key distributionEnsures compliance with federal regulations, including the Clery Act, FERPA, Title IX, and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities ActOther ResponsibilitiesSupports mission, vision and values of Elmhurst UniversityDemonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvementPerforms other duties and completes special projects as needed and assignedRequirementsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degreeAt least one year of professional experience in college/university housing and residence lifeDemonstrated ability to work with a diverse student body; strong interpersonal and mediation skillsAbility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required by the live-on nature of the rolePreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Student Affairs or Higher EducationExperience with housing and conduct software (e.g., StarRez, Maxient)Crisis management or student conduct experience at a small to mid-size institutionA proven track record of collaborative teamwork and exceptional service to campus partnersADDITIONAL COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:Fully furnished on-campus apartmentDesignated parking space and permitUniversity "Partner Policy" and "Pet Policy" eligibilityComprehensive University benefits packageWorking Conditions/Physical RequirementsThe essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
