Senior or Staff Data Platform EngineerOverviewWe are standing up a new data platform organization from the ground up. The mission is to bring together fragmented data systems across multiple vertical entities into a unified, governed, AI-ready platform. This team will define the technical foundation that powers the organization’s data ecosystem, from core data infrastructure through the enablement of future AI-native workflows and applications.As a Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and building foundational platform capabilities. This role is for someone who can operate with autonomy, move quickly, and make thoughtful technical decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term scale.What You’ll DoDesign and build scalable platform services for data ingestion, storage, transformation, and accessCreate reusable systems and frameworks that support multiple teams and business unitsContribute to data governance, lineage, consistency, and platform standardsHelp establish best practices around data modeling, architecture, and platform reliabilityWork closely with solutions engineers, AI engineers, and leadership to ensure the platform supports downstream workflows and applicationsEvaluate and introduce new tools where appropriate while maintaining a long-term architectural lensMentor less experienced engineers and help raise the bar for platform engineering across the teamWhat We’re Looking For5+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or backend infrastructureStrong hands-on experience with Python, Java, or similar languagesExperience with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or related data ecosystemsStrong understanding of data modeling, governance, storage design, and scalable system architectureExperience building shared internal platforms, frameworks, or infrastructure used by multiple teamsAbility to operate with high ownership in ambiguous, fast-moving environmentsStrong communication and collaboration skillsIdeal ProfileHas built platform capabilities in high-scale or highly autonomous engineering environmentsUnderstands how to build for the future while still iterating quicklyCan zoom out and think about platform leverage, not just isolated data problemsThrives in a build-from-scratch setting
