Technical Procurement Advisor Engineering & Telecom
Work Schedule:Hybrid role with onsite days on Monday and Tuesday.12-month contract.Role Summary:Lead end-to-end technical purchasing for equipment, custom engineered products, systems, software, and components.Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term agreements, ensuring policy compliance.Resolve supplier issues on quality, delivery, defects, and refunds.Core Responsibilities:Review and negotiate enterprise commercial agreements across varied scopes.Drive category strategies and procurement approaches that deliver lowest total cost and measurable savings.Apply financial, commercial, risk, logistics, and cost analysis to inform decisions.Conduct market research and collaborate with stakeholders to identify and execute purchasing opportunities.Ensure adherence to corporate procurement policies and procedures.Build and mature category management aligned to strategy, targets, and best practices.Develop subject matter expertise in assigned spend categories.Implement continuous improvements to optimize processes, reduce cost, and increase efficiency.Establish strong relationships with internal business partners and external suppliers.Protect physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets in all procurement activities.Manage short- to mid-term projects, including objectives, timelines, risks, milestones, deliverables, and budgets.Scope and Impact:Operate as an advisor with deep domain mastery; solve atypical challenges with creativity and resourcefulness.Influence new processes, standards, and operational plans impacting team results.Exercise judgment to recommend strategies with moderate corporate or major departmental impact.Lead or coordinate team activities; set priorities, resolve conflicts, and ensure task completion.Decision Making:Negotiate to resolve differences and recommend scope and strategies.Guide successful completion of major projects; recognize that poor decisions can jeopardize key objectives.Working Relationships:Determine methods and procedures on new assignments; coordinate work of other team members.Exercise latitude in deliverables; work is reviewed for outcomes rather than methods.Required Qualifications:Seven or more years in supply chain, procurement, and/or contract management.Demonstrated procurement/contract/RFX experience acquiring private telecommunications systems design and engineering, installation, and support services.Preferred experience with internal/private wireless/cellular networks for operations and communications (not public carrier services).Experience with private telecommunications networks built and operated in-house (not leased services).Bachelor's degree preferred; without a bachelor's degree, a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience is required.Key Skills:Technical purchasing and negotiations for telecom/engineering categories.Telecommunications systems design literacy.Category management, cost analysis, and market/supplier intelligence.Contracting, RFX, and commercial agreement review.Stakeholder management and supplier relationship management.Continuous improvement and process optimization.Asset protection mindset across physical, financial, and cybersecurity domains.
