This is a privately held company with a strong national footprint, a leadership team recognized across the industry for building something genuinely different, and a culture that boasts retention numbers most companies only dream of. They are scaling with significant momentum and need a finance leader who can build the infrastructure to keep pace.This is a hands-on controllership role, not a strategy-only seat and not a heads-down processing position. You will own the full accounting function, lead a team, build the systems, and report directly to the CFO with board-level visibility. If you have lived in a VC- or PE-backed environment, know how to close fast, and can communicate financials to leadership with confidence, this was written for you.Responsibilities:Own the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process and drive it to a consistent, fast cadencePrepare GAAP-compliant financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flowDefine and implement revenue recognition policies under ASC 606Oversee AP, AR, payroll accounting, general ledger, account reconciliations, and variance analysisBuild and maintain cash flow forecasts and manage daily cash operationsDevelop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrityServe as the primary contact for external auditors and lead the annual audit from start to finishDeliver management reporting packages to the CFO and executive leadershipSupport board-level and investor-grade reporting with the accuracy and cadence institutional stakeholders expectLead, mentor, and develop the accounting teamPartner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and business performance analysisManage relationships with external tax advisors and ensure federal, state, and local tax complianceDrive ERP optimization and automation initiatives across accounting workflowsMust-Have Skills:8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years at the Controller level, CPA nice to haveProven experience inside a VC-backed or PE-backed company, with the ability to deliver investor-grade reporting, communicate at the board level, and operate under institutional financial standardsBackground in SaaS, fintech, e-commerce, or financial servicesNice-to-Have Skills:CPABig 4 or regional public accounting firmHands-on experience with NetSuite or similar ERP, including implementation or optimizationASC 606 revenue recognition experience in a SaaS
