Registered Nurse

SUMMARYProvides nursing care and coordinates medical/psychiatric care for clients. Provides clients with continuity of care.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms nursing assessments in order to identify client's needs and plan of careProvides treatment for existing and emergency health care conditionsAssesses medical appropriateness for admission and continually assesses throughout clients' stayConsults with Psychiatrist if change in medical status occurs with referral to more appropriate level of careAdministers medication and maintains clinical chartsObserves, records, and initiates orders, maintains inventory (including injections) and uses appropriate action concerning client reaction to medication and therapeutic proceduresMonitors activities and job duties of Mental Health Assistants/Technicians assigned to their shiftsReviews and monitors client's progress through supervision and disposition of cases; confers with other programs/agencies, doctors, etc. as required regarding client welfareDocuments completed according to nursing standards of care, agency policy and proceduresAssists in assessment of clients' mental status on a daily basis, including RN health wellness examsPerforms a variety of professional medical nursing duties under the direction and supervision of the Psychiatrist; collects of routine laboratory specimen, administers injectable medications, administers emergency medication, communicates with pharmacies regarding doctor's orders for medications and related dutiesCounts and documents locked as-needed medicationsSupports and assists with the facilitation of Care Plans for consumers within the Red Rock Health TeamEducates clients to possible side effects of injectable medicationsPerforms other duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONSLicensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of OklahomaDemonstrated interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated experience in use of physical assessment skills and the ability to handle medical emergenciesMust be able to work shift-workOne year experience preferredKnowledge and experience working with administration of psychotropic medications, preferredKnowledge of psychiatric nursing, practices, techniques and procedures, preferredExperience working in a psychiatric setting, preferredCertification in mental health nursing a plusPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust have the ability to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have the ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 50 poundsAbility to travel approximately 10% of the timeAbility to use telephone, PC, fax machine, copy machine, and printerEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesRed Rock Behavioral Health Services does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, age, marital/familial status, sexual orientation, or disability.
