Deputy Building InspectorThis Deputy Building Inspector role supports a large airport capital improvement program within the Greater Los Angeles County area. The position focuses on performing special inspections across multiple construction disciplines while ensuring contractor work complies with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.Inspectors in this role work closely with construction managers, contractors, engineers, and agency representatives to monitor field activities, document project progress, and maintain quality assurance across complex infrastructure projects. This is a primarily field-based role ideal for experienced LADBS Deputy Inspectors who are comfortable working on active construction sites and coordinating with multiple project stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform special inspections for structural systems including concrete construction, steel installation, drilled-in anchors/seismic components, and spray-applied fireproofingMonitor construction activities to ensure compliance with building codes, engineering plans, and project specificationsPrepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting construction activities, field conditions, and work progressTrack changes in construction scope and verify time-and-material work as neededMeasure and document installed quantities to support project documentation and contractor payment verificationReview construction documents including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and inspection reportsCoordinate with construction managers, contractors, engineers, and agency representatives to maintain project compliance and progressQualificationsValid LADBS Deputy Inspector licenses in the following disciplines: Concrete Construction Steel Construction Drilled-in Anchors / Seismic Resistance Spray-Applied FireproofingMinimum 5 years of experience performing as a LADBS Deputy Building Inspector on large-scale construction projectsStrong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and special inspection proceduresExperience preparing detailed field reports and maintaining accurate construction documentationFamiliarity with construction document review including RFIs, submittals, and change ordersExperience using project documentation software such as Bluebeam, Adobe Pro, or similar platformsCertifications & TrainingCal-OSHA 30 certification completed within the past four yearsFall protection and harness training preferredConfined space entry training preferredCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience and certifications.
