Senior Shipping Logistics CoordinatorFlightwave - Torrance, CA 90503 Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and execution-focused Senior Shipping Logistics Coordinator to oversee all facility-based shipping operations and related recordkeeping activities. This role ensures that all outbound and inbound shipments are accurately packed, processed, documented, and staged in compliance with regulatory and company requirements. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesExecute all daily outbound shipments from the facility, including commercial and government deliveries, RMA returns, and inter-facility transfers. Receive and inspect inbound shipments, verify contents, and document condition. Ensure proper coordination with the Logistics Manager for shipment scheduling, routing instructions, and freight hand-offs. Maintain visibility and order of the shipping and receiving areas, staging zones, and storage of outgoing goods. Package, label, and document dangerous goods shipments per IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR requirements. Ensure that all DG and lithium battery shipments are prepared in accordance with current regulatory standards. Maintain current DG certification and assist team members in training on proper handling procedures. Physically prepare shipments, including selecting proper boxes, crates, foam, stretch wrap, pallets, and bracing materials. Build and break down pallets, ensuring they are structurally sound, space-efficient, and carrier-compliant. Collaborate with engineering or production teams when special or oversized packaging is needed. Generate and maintain all required documentation for outbound shipments, including commercial invoices, packing lists, pro forma documents, shipping labels, and DG declarations. Ensure complete, accurate, and accessible shipment records in accordance with company policies and export regulations. Input shipment data into ERP systems, shipping platforms, and internal logs with extreme attention to detail. Support the Logistics Manager in ensuring that all outbound shipments are compliant with U.S. export laws, including classification accuracy (ECCN, HTS), valuation, and export authorization. Interface with the Trade Compliance team for document reviews, shipment audits, and required record retention. Assist in identifying and correcting issues related to incomplete paperwork, packaging errors, or shipment delays. Proven experience coaching, mentoring, and supporting logistics or shipping personnel, fostering accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain shipping and logistics procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO9001, export compliance). Other duties as assigned. Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in logistics, business, or supply chain preferred. 6+ years of shipping/receiving experience in a warehouse, production, or defense/aerospace environment. Current certification in IATA Dangerous Goods shipping; 49 CFR certification preferred. Proven experience handling lithium batteries, flammable materials, or other regulated commodities. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and shipping platforms (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.). Proficient in Microsoft Excel and recordkeeping software. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage priorities under tight deadlines. Deep understanding of packaging, crating, and securing items for transit via air and ground freight. Additional Desired QualificationsForklift certification or experience is a plus. Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more with or without assistance. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching throughout the workday. Regular use of hands and arms to handle, move, and position boxes, pallets, and shipping materials. Ability to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and stretch wrap machines; forklift operation preferred. Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, moderate noise levels, and frequent exposure to moving equipment and heavy materials. Ability to safely work around hazardous materials and follow all applicable health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required based on shipping schedules or urgent priorities. This position will require successfully completing a post-offer background check.
