Assistant Controller

We are a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building a community-wide commitment to ensure every child is ready to succeed in school and life through comprehensive, high-quality early learning environments. SUMMARY:  Working HoursResponsible for assisting in the supervision of the daily operations of the finance department to ensure the proper application of accounting principles and policies to all financial information by performing the following duties:This is a full-time position, and business hours at the Boynton location is Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Longer hours, evenings, and weekends may be necessary on occasion.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesReview and approve financial transactions in order to verify the accuracy of proper general ledger codes by natural classification and funding source, in accordance with agency policies and accounting principles. Ensure all transactions are properly approved in accordance with the agency policies and procedures, and cost allocation plan as necessary,Approve all invoices that relate to contractual services/commodities for compliance with contract stipulations. Analyze the financial information including the detail general ledger detail and finance reports to identify any errors or omissions, prepare correcting journal entries, as necessary.Assist with the preparation of annual financial statement and compliance audits, as well as any fiscal reviews required by funding sources, such as locating and providing documentation,Assist the agency staff and stakeholders regarding questions relating to fiscal policy and procedures,Assist the Controller and CFO with processing, reviewing, and documenting provider payments and payroll submission.Education And/Or ExperienceProficient in computer applications, including general ledger accounting software, spreadsheet and word processing software, as well as web-based applications, such as payroll and banking.
