Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Family Office Controller manages the core financial operations of the family office — accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance — ensuring accurate records, sound internal controls, disciplined cash flow management, and seamless coordination with external tax, legal, and investment advisors in service of long-term wealth preservation.This role bridges day-to-day operations and strategic planning, handling everything from accounts payable and receivable to complex investment tracking and multi-entity tax compliance. The successful candidate is both a hands-on operator and a trusted advisor to the principals.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Reporting & Accounting: Oversee the general ledger, month- and year-end close, financial statements, and reconciliations for the family office and related entities, including trusts and LLCs.Budgeting & Cash Flow: Manage family budgets, monitor cash flow across entities, and support short- and long-term financial planning.Investment Oversight: Track private investments, manage capital calls, reconcile investment statements, and ensure accurate reporting.Tax & Compliance: Ensure compliance with IRS and applicable tax laws, coordinate with outside tax preparers, and identify proactive tax planning opportunities.Risk Management: Oversee insurance policies, cybersecurity practices, and disaster recovery plans.Advisor Coordination: Serve as primary liaison with banks, fund managers, attorneys, and wealth managers.Internal Controls: Develop and enforce policies and procedures that safeguard assets, data, and confidentiality.Staff & Project Management: Manage accounting staff as applicable and lead ad-hoc financial projects.Daily Bookkeeping: Personally perform hands-on accounts payable / accounts receivable and related daily bookkeeping tasks; this is a working controller role, not a supervisory-only position.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSActive CPA license — required.Direct family office experience — required, not preferred.Excellent professional tenure — stable, long-term roles with minimal turnover.Recent, hands-on bookkeeping experience — AP/AR, reconciliations, and a continued willingness to perform these tasks daily.DFW-based and on-site — candidate must be in, or willing to relocate to, the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This is a fully on-site role.Strong accounting foundation, typically including public accounting, audit, or tax experience.Demonstrated experience supporting high-net-worth individuals, estates, trusts, and complex financial structures.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSInternational experience — accounting, reporting, or entity management across jurisdictions.Start-up experience — early-stage or operating company exposure.Experience working alongside outside counsel, fund administrators, and multi-jurisdiction tax advisors.PERSONAL ATTRIBUTESHigh integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive personal and financial information.Comfort and confidence working directly with successful, high-expectation principals.Precise, detail-oriented, and dependable.Solutions-oriented and able to operate independently in a lean, multi-entity environment.
