Position Type:Administration/PrincipalDate Posted:4/1/2024Location:Jr. High/High SchoolClosing Date:Until FilledCERTIFIEDLAME DEER PUBLIC SCHOOLSDISTRICT #6JOB DESCRIPTIONPRINCIPAL (Jr. High/High School)QUALIFICATIONS:Completed district employment applicationMust pass a background checkMaster's in Education and School Administrator License requiredA valid Class III certificate issued by the State Board of EducationAt least three to five years of successful teaching experience requiredAny other qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and/or acceptableMust be able to successfully complete performance responsibilities listed below REPORTS TO:SuperintendentSUPERVISES:Teaching Staff and ParaprofessionalsOther Professional StaffAll Clerical StaffOther Resource and other service personnel while functioning in the assigned schoolOther supervisory responsibilities:Oversees the daily management of the school and office.Oversees educators in the school, providing periodic observations and evaluations that are timely and constructive and completed based on the timetables set by the school district.Offers additional training and guidance as necessary based on evaluations of professional staff.Participates in the hire of all faculty and staff for the district.Oversees and evaluates the performance of clerical staff.From time to time, designated in an acting capacity by supervisor.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by negotiations with the School Board.EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated, annually and in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policy on evaluations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.JOB GOAL:The Jr. High/High School Principal will coordinate administrative oversight and plan all phases of instructional leadership for the school including educational programming, administration, budgetary planning, discipline, and counseling services.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):Ensures a productive learning environment through continual collaboration with teachers, students, and parentsFacilitates opportunities to connect with students by being present and available during arrival and dismissal, by appearing at school functions, and by meeting with studentsEnforces disciplinary policies and procedures with studentsMaintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of the studentsAssists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructionsSupervises the preparation of school reportsMakes recommendations concerning the school's administration and instructionAssumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students and building staffAssists in the management and preparation of the budgetSupervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of studentsActs as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school lifeFacilitates special conferences between parents and teachers as neededRecommends the removal of any staff member whose job performance is unsatisfactory according to established proceduresParticipates in parent meetings and conferences and acts as intermediary between parents, teachers, and students to deal with a variety of needs or issuesMaintains competency and student academic achievement as prescribed by the school boardAssists in the recruiting, hiring, training, assigning, and at times, evaluation of district personnelPresides over and conducts staff meetings for the proper functioning of the schoolDelegated authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the building principalBudgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and businessPlans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness programEnsures completion of routine and required paperwork including attendance reports, test results, and licensing information for students, educators, staff, and school managementEnsures that necessary maintenance and repairs to the school property are performedCoordinates staff development for faculty and staff; provides instruction if neededOversees the allocation of supplies and equipmentOversees and implements the school budget, approving new programs, and expenditures as appropriateRepresents the school in community activities and meetingsInteracts with various stakeholders to foster a positive relationship between the school and community including through a PTA or parent interaction and inclusion, community organizations, and local government/community leadersActs as liaison between the district and the school;
