Hardware Engineer, AI Accelerator Module Validation

The Hardware Design, Rack-scale Technology and Platforms (HDRTP) engineering team designs, develops, validates, and delivers the hardware modules and platforms that power Meta's AI and HPC infrastructure, deployed in data centers worldwide. Our work is published for industry adoption through the Open Compute Project Foundation.We are looking for a skilled AI Accelerator Module Validation Engineer to join our team. The Module Validation Engineer will own and drive module-specific test plans and testing in conjunction with module Electrical Engineers and Power Engineers. The role involves working in a cross-functional environment with multiple parallel programs on production paths.This role is critical to ensuring Meta's module and MTIA roadmap modules meet quality, reliability, and performance requirements before entering mass production. The engineer will partner with ODM partners to ensure vendor-owned testing meets Meta standards and will advance test methodologies across the accelerator module product portfolio.Hardware Engineer, AI Accelerator Module Validation Responsibilities:Own and drive module-specific validation test plans across the full product lifecycle (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP) in conjunction with module EE and Power EngineersExecute and oversee electrical, thermal, signal integrity, and power delivery validation testing for server and AI/HPC modulesAdvance test plans and methodologies across module products, ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional, performance, reliability, and compliance requirementsEvaluate and ensure ODM/JDM partner (e.g., Quanta) testing plans, procedures, and results meet Meta's quality and reliability standardsEnsure equipment, resources, and contingent workers are effectively allocated and driving closure for module testing milestonesDevelop, document, and maintain validation test procedures, specifications, and acceptance criteriaPerform root cause analysis and failure analysis on test escapes and field returns, driving corrective actions to closureCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Thermal, Firmware, and Supply Chain to ensure holistic product readinessDefine and track validation metrics and KPIsprovide regular status updates and risk assessments to program leadershipDrive continuous improvement of test infrastructure, automation, and lab capabilities to support scaling across multiple parallel programsPartner with Data Center Site Operations and NPI teams to incorporate field feedback into validation requirementsMinimum Qualifications:BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline8+ years of experience in hardware validation, test engineering, or product qualification in a server, networking, or high-performance computing environment4+ years of experience developing and executing validation test plans covering electrical, thermal, and mechanical domainsKnowledge of server module architectures including memory (DDR4/DDR5/HBM), high-speed I/O (PCIe, CXL, NVLink), and power delivery systems4+ years of experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, thermal chambers, and data acquisition systemsDemonstrated expertise performing root cause analysis and driving corrective actions across cross-functional teamsStrong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent validation programsExperience conveying technical findings in writing and verbally to engineering and non-engineering audiences (e.g., validation reports, test summaries, program reviews)Preferred Qualifications:MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field8+ years of experience in hardware validation or test engineering for data center or AI/HPC productsExperience working directly with ODM/JDM manufacturing partners in Asia (e.g., Quanta, Foxconn, Wistron)Familiarity with industry standards such as JEDEC, OCP, and Intel/AMD platform validation methodologies8+ years of experience with environmental stress screening (ESS), HALT/HASS, and accelerated life testing8+ years of experience with signal integrity and power integrity validation (eye diagram analysis, jitter measurement, PDN impedance characterization)Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Bash) for test automation and data analysis5+ years of experience with ASIC/accelerator module validation (GPU, TPU, or custom AI accelerator modules)Knowledge of statistical methods for test data analysis (Cpk, GR&R, Weibull analysis)Prior experience scaling validation processes from prototype to high-volume manufacturingAbout Meta:Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
