Food Quality InspectorLocation: Murrieta, CA Pay Rate: $23.00 $25.00 per hour Shift: Monday Friday | 7:00 AM to 4:30 PMJoin the crew that checks it, tests it, approves it. You'll keep production clean, standards high, and mistakes off the floor.The Ripening Technician is responsible for controlling avocado readiness through firmness (PSI) evaluation and ripening room execution. This role focuses on measuring, interpreting, and adjusting product condition to ensure consistent, customer-ready fruit with minimal variability.Your Responsibilities:Executing the avocado ripening process through data-driven decision-making and hands-on product management.Evaluating fruit condition, determining product disposition, and ensuring consistency across pallets and shipments.Planning, directing, executing, and adjusting the ripening process using real-time product feedback.Establishing and maintaining ripening schedules, monitoring room performance, and making adjustments based on fruit response.Coordinating closely with planning and operations teams on product readiness and availability.Performing firmness (PSI) testing using a penetrometer and using results to make decisions on product segregation, blending, or release.Reorganizing and rebuilding pallets as needed, including transferring cases between pallets to balance firmness variability and meet specifications.Collecting representative samples from multiple pallet positions, including upper rack levels, requiring ladder use and working at height.Operating forklifts to load and unload ripe rooms, move inventory, and support pallet adjustments.Setting and adjusting ripening room conditions, including temperature schedules, and monitoring fruit response to ensure proper progression.Maintaining accurate daily inventory with clear visibility of fruit stage, room status, and product readiness (PSIs).Ensuring all quality evaluations of inbound and outbound products are completed and documented according to requirements.Identifying and reporting off-spec product, including issues related to firmness, condition, packaging, or appearance.Communicating clearly with internal teams regarding inventory levels, fruit readiness, risks, and any quality concerns that may impact shipments.Preparing and reviewing reports on ripening performance, PSI trends, and product outcomes, and taking corrective action as needed.Performing other duties as assigned.This position requires availability to work weekends.What You'll Need to Get on Board:High School Diploma or equivalent (including International Education)One to two years of experience in either quality control, produce handling, or ripeningForklift experience requiredExperience using measurement tools and making data-based decisions preferred (penetrometer/PSI experience is a plus)Strong ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervisionStrong organizational skills and follow-throughBasic computer skillsStrong analytical and decision-making skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience with perishable goods preferredComfortable with changing priorities and variable product conditionsHighly organized with strong attention to detailPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions:Frequent standing, walking, bending, and upper body movementRepetitive use of hands for testing, sorting, and handling productMust be able to climb ladders and work at elevated rack levels to collect product samplesLifting and carrying are required for loads up to 80 lbs., with or without assistanceWork will take place in various environments, including cold rooms (38F) and warm, humid ripening conditionsExposure to noise, moisture, and chemical products used in sanitation and operations is expectedWhat You Get:Fair Pay Weekly: Solid cash, no waiting.Health, Dental, Vision + Life Insurance: Coverage that matters.Save While You Work: 401 (k) option.Safety Always: We take care of our people.Your day starts and ends with quality.
