Work closely with applicable area of manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations management.Develop processes to improve product quality and manufacturing productivity. Combine research, automation knowledge, and practical judgement to select systems with the greatest potential for throughput improvements and cost savings.Keep informed with latest industry technology in order to serve as a consultant to management regarding the positive direction of process changes, equipment purchases and plant expansions. Foster relationships with key 3rd party contractors to standardize system functions, brands, and capabilities. Specific Job DutiesSubject matter expert of industry automation technology, implementation, project management and automation systems design.Thorough understanding of: robotics, mechanics, system design, programming, material handling, sensors, mechanical design, and industry specific automation standards.Productivity ImprovementStrive to improve process efficiency, reliability, and throughputUse production data to justify automation system rationalizationFacilitate system runoffs and feasibility assessmentsAssist shop personnel with system adoption, training, and implementationDocument quantitative and qualitative results. Work with cost accountants to analyze results based on total product cost.Develop documentation aides to minimize integration time once new systems are launchedAssist Manufacturing with studies of ideal production areas of focus for automation opportunitiesAssist Continuous Improvement Engineering with process studies, and assessmentsAssist Manufacturing Engineering, as needed, to maintain acceptable production levelsProduct Quality ImprovementStrive to improve process capability when required product tolerances and SPC techniques indicate the need.Suggest system design changes and facilitate experimentation by providing conceptual drawings and feasibility of automation systems.Suggest and facilitate experimentation of process enhancementsLong Range Facility, Equipment, and Process ImprovementsProvide engineering assistance with selection, installation and startup of new equipment as it relates to automation.Provide input and analysis to management enabling them to make informed decisions on automation projects based on ROI, efficiency improvements and alignment with company goals.Keep informed of new industry developments by reviewing trade journals and attending shows, conventions and seminars.Other Job DutiesServe as a consultant to the Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Engineering Groups regarding manufacturing automation capabilities, cost estimates, and takt time estimates for new and special processes.Strive to perform job duties at a consistently high level of professionalism and thoroughness utilizing knowledge, training, and prior work experience. Employs cooperation, open-mindedness, and creativity to confront and complete challenging work assignments.Maintain thorough records of the current status of all assigned projects and keeps direct supervisor informed at all times.Work on special projects, as assignedMotivated self-starter that can identify process problems, establish the appropriate team (if necessary), and implement a solution with minimal guidance.LocationDanboro, PA, onsite. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:Bachelors Degree in: Mechanical Engineering or Automation Engineering (or equivalent work experience).Minimum of 6 years experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with advanced process automation.Minimum of 4 years experience in automated systems design and project management with a focus on material handling and manufacturing process optimization.
