Students thrive in our smaller classrooms with teachers that want all to succeed. Built in 1923, the school was once the church/school before a new church was built in 1959. Sister Barbara Bach, a member of the first graduating class, came back to teach at St Joseph, as well as many other parishioners that still share their memories at St Joseph. Collaborates with the pastor/parochial minister in implementing the mission of the Parish.This is accomplished by participating in the comprehensive planning, implementationand evaluation of the parish's program, goals and objectives with particular emphasis onthe religious education/formation. Principal serves as a member of the pastoral staff andis a professional resource to the staff in all areas relating to the Catholic elementaryschool. Principal participates in regional and deanery program planning efforts.2. Ensures the development and implementation of an overall learning environment whichpromotes Catholic faith formation/education, ethical decision-making, social justice andChristian leadership. This is accomplished by promoting a curriculum that integratesGospel values; assuring the integration of the school as part of the parish faithcommunity; enabling staff to serve as role models for students; promoting a leadershipstyle compatible with Christian principles; and personally witnessing to the principlesand values of the Catholic faith.3. Ensures the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive curriculumprogram which complies with Archdiocesan and state standards of curriculumrequirements. This is accomplished by overseeing the implementation of instructionalgoals and objectives for each grade, evaluating current curriculum to determine strengthsand weaknesses and collaborating with staff in selecting supplementary programs.4. Oversees the supervision of certified and support staff. This is accomplished byoverseeing the recruitment, hiring, training, motivation and evaluation processes.Principal oversees the formulation and implementation of instructional goals andobjectives for individual teachers; provide for instructional resources and professionaldevelopment for teachers. Principal convenes staff to promote the integration of theschool's mission, goals and policies; and to promote a working environment thatincorporates the principle of collaboration, subsidiary and shared decision-making.5. Ensures that learning standards are developed and maintained for effective instructionand student learning. This is accomplished by assuring that students are assessedregularly and appropriately, and that student progress is regularly shared with parents.Principal oversees the development and maintenance of accurate and current studentrecords and files.6. Ensures the development and maintenance of effective communication systems betweenparents, teachers and school administrators. This is accomplished through regular writtencommunication to the parents and wider school & parish community; regularly scheduledmeeting opportunities between teachers and parents; regularly reporting students'academic progress, and participation in Parents' Club activities and meetings.7. Serves as staff and executive officer to the School Commission. In collaboration with theCommission Chair, the Principal prepares agenda and relevant materials and otherappropriate data as requested by the Commission. The principal collaborates with theCommission in setting annual tuition rates, preparing the annual budget and modifying itas needed.8. Oversees the development of an overall financial plan for the school. This includesdeveloping a long-range financial plan for the school, including fundraising andendowment programs, and the development of an alumni association.9. Collaborates with the Catholic School Department in administering the school. This isaccomplished by developing annual school programs, plans, goals and objectives andparticipating in programs, meetings, etc. sponsored by the department.10. Ensures the development of policy and process for disciplining students. This isaccomplished by incorporating the values of justice and making membership in acommunity to promote positive discipline and its positive consequences.11. Participates with other secular and private schools in the community in facilitating jointprograms and/or the acquisition of joint supplies with the local school district, inparticular the effective management of federal programs and related funding.12. Ensures the preparation and submission of all necessary reports to the state andArchdiocesan Catholic School Department. Principal also adheres to all applicable stateand Archdiocesan safety and health regulations.13. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required to function as a Principal. This isaccomplished through reading, attendance at Archdiocesan in-service trainingopportunities, participation in worships, conventions or convocations and throughmembership in local, state or national professional organizations, as approved and asappropriate.Salary & Benefits:Salary based upon education and experience.
