Job Title : Java EngineerLocation : San Jose, CA - Onsite PositionLong term Contract - Mon-Thurs onsiteRoles & Responsibilitiesuthors and audits technical design for featuresCompetent in programming and debugging across multiple modules and dealing with related external dependenciesWrites high quality code with full test coverageReviews code to ensure it is functionally correct and is of high qualityProvides story or business requirements breakdown planning and estimation, reviews and evaluates the team's estimatesccountable for complex stories or business requirementsIdentifies feature and module dependenciesProposes mitigation plans for identified risks and problemsSuggests process improvements and best practicesIdentifies new areas that could be measuredble to identify, evaluate and discuss alternative technologies and techniquesJustifies decisions and achieves peer consentInteracts with team members, other IT teams, business users, individual contributors, managersGathers and verifies technical requirementsSphere of influence is small group of peersctively shares knowledge within domainble to share knowledge outside domainMentors co-workers within area of expertise, improves other's productivityProvides guidance for the work performed by contractorsssesses the quality of work and effectiveness of contract resourcesParticipates in development of contractor agreements, including deliverables and SLAsMust have8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 5+ years focused on Java/Spring Boot backend services.Deep experience designing microservices (service boundaries, API design, idempotency, retries, circuit breaking).Hands-on with Oracle (SQL tuning, indexing, stored procedures) and Cassandra (data modeling, consistency levels).Production experience with Kafka (consumer groups, partitioning, offset management, schema evolution).Strong grasp of testing: unit/integration/contract tests; test data management.Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs, pagination, error handling, and versioning.Experience with CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins/GitHub Actions) and Git workflows.Proficiency in observability (e.g., logs/metrics/traces) and performance optimization for JVM-based services.bility to lead technical initiatives, review designs, and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
