API 653 Certified Inspector
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified API 653 Certified Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing inspections on aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) in accordance with API 653 standards. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, performing detailed inspections, and delivering clear reports on the condition of storage tanks. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of tank inspection, repair, alteration, and reconstruction processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform inspections on aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) following API 653 standards and other relevant codes.
Conduct visual inspections, ultrasonic thickness testing, magnetic particle testing, and other non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
Assess tanks for corrosion, deformation, and overall structural integrity.
Review and verify the inspection history of tanks, including previous inspection reports and repair records.
Prepare and deliver detailed inspection reports with accurate findings and recommendations for repair or maintenance.
Collaborate with engineering teams and contractors to ensure repairs and alterations meet API standards.
Monitor and enforce safety procedures during inspections and tank repairs.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to tank inspections.
Provide technical advice and support on API 653 issues to the project team.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of API standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
API 653 certification is required.
Minimum of [5] years of experience in the inspection, repair, or construction of aboveground storage tanks (ASTs).
Strong understanding of API 650 (construction of ASTs) and API 652 (lining of tanks).
Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and visual inspection (VT).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and practices.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce thorough, accurate reports.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, engineers, and team members.
Willingness to travel to different job sites as needed, 0-75%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in additional NDT methods (e.g., API 510, API 570, or others).
Prior experience working in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, or power generation.
Proficiency in using inspection software and report generation tools.
