Early Childhood Family Education Program Assistant Position Overview The successful candidate will be an individual who firmly believes:All students can and will learn, and that their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control;In the need to work interdependently with teachers, school, and district leaders throughout the system, aligning the work of adults around improving student learning by meeting the needs, interests, and aspirations of students;In the need to work in partnership with staff to continuously improve practices to enhance student and family engagement, creating the conditions for equity, excellence and student success; andIn meeting students' academic, social, and emotional needs and aspirations so that each student feels valued and has a sense of belonging, leading to academic success Position Purpose The ECFE program assistant will be responsible for setup, clean up, and maintenance of a safe classroom environment for parents and children. The position is also responsible for implementing all aspects of curriculum as assigned by the Child Educator and/or ECFE/SR Coordinator. This position is considered non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Primary Responsibilities Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:Follow directions of the child educator and assist where neededHelp with the age-appropriate classroom learning environment according to the child educator's requestComplete room preparation before and clean up after classKeep accurate attendance recordsPrepare and clean up daily snacksObserve and assist the child educator during group timeClean and disinfect supplies and toys as neededLead circle time, small groups or games if necessaryPrepare materials for projects or other activities as directed by the child educatorInteract with students as they arrive, throughout their learning day, and as they departInteract and play with children when neededSet up and clean up all classroom activities as directed by the child educatorAssist child educators in keeping classroom supplies current and placing needed items on the shopping listAttend staff meetings and special events as assignedAssist in public relations and outreach services as neededFollow discipline policy and all district program policiesObserve confidentialityPerform other duties as assigned by the ECFE/SR Coordinator. Preferences We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm for working with students.
