Ecological Landscape Crew Lead

ReWild Gardens designs, installs and maintains residential and commercial habitat-friendly native gardens that range from traditional/semi-formal plantings, rain gardens, alternative lawn and naturalized areas. We utilize pollinator/wildlife-friendly practices and maintenance procedures - that means lots of hands-on work (no loud machinery), no pesticide, limited (targeted) herbicide use and intelligent timing on maintenance to protect valuable insect life and ecology. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented candidate to take on a landscape lead position. In addition to fulfilling on-site labor duties (see below), landscape lead would work closely with designer/project planner to ensure specifications are executed, maintain productivity (manage and motivate crew), ensure quality standards are met and perform site checks. We employ landscapers who are passionate about native plants, habitat gardening and creating a nature-forward impact in their community. Our new install garden projects often include small-scale hardscape aspects and rain garden excavation; this requires intermittent work with boulders, pavers and removal/shoveling of aggregate/landscape rock and hand excavating/shaping earth. Qualifications: Must have preexisting (3+ year) of professional gardening/landscape work experience. Ability and openness to adopt new techniques in accordance to our work and values. Native plant Identification and respect for nature will be a requirement of this position. Driver's license with good driving record. Ability to perform tasks that require rigorous physical work (kneeling, bending, crouching) and ability to repeatedly (safely & effectively) lift 50 lbs. Ability to work around natural materials such as soil, plants, mulch, straw, etc. that may contain mold, fungi, pollen and other allergens. Hardscape experience and fine gardening experience required. Duties + Responsibilities: Performs a variety of general labor tasks needed to create gardens and outdoor spaces including: Pulling and digging weeds, manual sod removal (sod kicker) Edging installation Shoveling and spreading mulch, soil, gravel, stone Tree/shrub shearing/pruning Hand excavation (digging holes/rain gardens) using hand tools Plant installation (plugs, #1+) Site and tool clean up Must be able to work outdoors performing physical work for prolonged periods of time in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold. Willingness to take direction and work well with others. Ability to execute garden plans and instructions on site; direct crew on site to fulfill specs. Ability to quality check and follow up on completed projects via expectations outlined by project manager. **A positive, creative and optimistic attitude - pride of work, integrity, honesty, grit and client satisfaction are absolute necessities to work with us. We have a “the customer is always right” approach.** What You Can Expect: We are located in East Bloomington. A typical day begins with meeting up at our location where we will discuss that day’s projects, sites and all necessary items/tasks needed. Load up appropriate tools, complete necessary shop tasks/equipment upkeep and head to job sites. You may be asked to drive to job sites in your own vehicle and/or meet at a site. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel between job sites. Sites are typically located within 30 minute radius of the Twin Cities metro area. You will be fully briefed in the morning before departing for job sites; project manager will be on the project site for an initial walk through for all new projects. A typical day starts at 8 am and goes until 5 - 6 pm. Hours: We are seeking full time applicants at this time. This is a seasonal position. Our season begins in spring (typically April) and usually ends mid-late November, with the exception of some winter pruning and winter seed sowing sporadically throughout winter months.
