Associate Accountant
Choice Schools Associates is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Associate Accountant to support the financial operations of our public school academies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong fiscal stewardship across our schools.The ideal candidate is curious, teachable, organized, and committed to accuracy. They build trusting relationships with school finance directors and approach their work with integrity and accountability.What Success Looks LikeMonthly finance deliverables are accurate, timely, and error-freeGrant funds are allocated and reported properlyStrong, accountable relationships with school finance leadersProactive communication and thoughtful problem-solvingWhat you'll doGeneral Ledger & Financial TransactionsRecord and maintain accurate general ledger entriesPrepare journal entries as delegatedReconcile bank and credit card accounts Month-End & Financial ReportingSupport month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processesReview payroll assignments and benefit chargesCompile data for interim and annual financial reportsAssist with variance reporting and budget monitoringAccounts Payable & ReceivableProcess invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and timelyAssist with check printing and required signaturesReconcile vendor discrepanciesCompliance & Audit SupportEnsure adherence to local, state, and federal financial regulationsSupport internal and external audit processesMaintain accurate documentation and reporting standardsVendor & 1099 ManagementCollect and verify W-9 formsPrepare and electronically file 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC formsDistribute recipient copies and resolve discrepanciesCollaboration & Continuous ImprovementPartner closely with the School Finance TeamSupport accounting software usersIdentify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controlsUphold and model organizational core valuesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)Knowledge of school or government accounting preferredStrong organizational and prioritization skillsHigh level of integrity and sound judgmentAbility to work independently and collaboratively About Choice Schools Associates
