Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.General Functions:A teacher serves under the direct supervision of the building principal and/or assistant principal. Teachers are responsible for the students assigned to their care and for the supervision of teacher assistants assigned to their classroom.A teacher has the responsibility to help students develop skills and knowledge consistent with the schools curriculum and goals that will contribute to the students' development as mature, able, and responsible adults. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a classroom climate which nurtures and supports the learning environment. Teachers are also responsible for the safety of their students both while inside and outside of their classroom environment.QUALIFICATIONS:Special Knowledge/Skills:Content knowledge of subjects assignedGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionGrowth Mindset- a willingness to continuously grow as an educatorAbility to develop a culturally responsive classroomAbility to instruct students with different learning stylesAbility to manage classroom behavior using Love and Logic and Social Emotional Learning strategiesStrong organizational, communication, technical, and interpersonal skillsAbility to teach the whole child, including cultural awareness, social/emotional learning strategies, and connecting content to the interests and talents of your students.Willingness to learn the Montessori Method, including attending Montessori training courses.Willingness to execute PD's required for instructional developmentWillingness to utilize, learn and integrate technology into their classroomExperience:Minimum of a year of classroom teaching experience strongly preferredMinimum of at least one year of student teaching or approved internshipExperience in multicultural settings with a diverse population of students/staffMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Instructional Strategies – The teacher shall:Use the Montessori materials appropriately and consistently (learn and practice it)Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results for instructional activities.Uses the Outdoors as an extended classroom to teach various subjects, including but not limited to Science and/or Math.Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and or volunteer(s).Develop meaningful student individual work plans for all students.Assist students in analyzing and improving the methods and habits of independent study.Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.Be a positive role model for students at all timesSupport the mission, vision, and goals of the school.Classroom Management and Organization – The teacher shall:Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students.Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to administrative regulations, Love and Logic, Social Emotional Learning strategies.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Montessori materials, resources, and technology should be accounted for at the end of each day.Assist in the selection of appropriate instructional materials.Communication – The teacher shall:Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents, principals, and other colleagues.Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Keep their supervisor and/or principal fully informed with respect to conditions and needs of the classroom and of new techniques and materials being used.Receive consequence for unprofessional-ism, tardiness, excessive absences and lack of interest/attention to his or her job responsibilities.Professional Growth and Development – The teacher shall:Attend and participate in staff meetings, committee meetings, and work sessions as required by their supervisor and/or principal.Exhibit professional judgment and responsibility at all times.Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor.Policy Implementation – The teacher shall:Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and present subject matter according to established guidelines.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Job Types: ContractEducation:Bachelor's (Preferred)Experience:Teaching: 3 years (Preferred)License/Certification:Teaching Certification (Required)Texas Teacher Certification (Required)Work Location: In personJob Types: Part-time, ContractPay: From $20.74 per hourAbility to Commute: Georgetown, TX (Preferred) Work Location: In person
