Learn more at www.cfd-research.comJob DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quality Engineer / CMM Inspector to support quality assurance activities in a precision manufacturing environment. This hybrid role combines quality engineering responsibilities with hands-on Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection and programming. The ideal candidate will ensure products meet customer, industry, and internal quality standards while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.Quality EngineeringImplement, and maintain quality control procedures, inspection plans, and process documentation.Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for quality improvement and waste reduction.Investigate non-conformances using root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).Support first article inspections (FAI) as required.Monitor key quality metrics and generate reports for management and customers.Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve process capability.Conduct internal audits and support external audits.CMM InspectionProgram, operate, and maintain CMM equipment for dimensional inspection of precision components.Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, CAD models, and customer specifications.Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using CMM and conventional metrology tools.Generate and interpret inspection reports and measurement data.Validate inspection methods and maintain calibration records.Troubleshoot CMM programming and measurement issues.Maintain accurate inspection documentation and records.Basic QualificationsAssociate’s degree or 15 years equivalent experience, in Quality and Manufacturing or related field.2+ years of experience in quality engineering14+ years of CMM inspection in a manufacturing environment.Proficiency with CMM programming software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, MODUS, or similar.Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.Experience using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators.Knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office and quality reporting tools.U.S. Citizenship required and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is also requiredDesired QualificationsExperience in aerospace, automotive, medical device, or precision machining industries.Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and digital quality systems.Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.Benefits: CFD Research offers competitive salaries and excellent employee benefits, including an employer matching 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
