PAY GRADE: Certified Salary SchedulePosition eligible for $10,000 Market Demand StipendFLSA STATUS: ExemptPOSITION OBJECTIVE: The Learning Resource Center (LRC) Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and academic support to students with disabilities who access services in a resource or inclusion-based setting. The LRC teacher collaborates closely with general education teachers and service providers to ensure students can access grade-level curriculum while making progress toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals in the least restrictive environment.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)Provide targeted, small-group or individual instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.Deliver services in the LRC setting and/or through push-in support within general education classrooms.Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies.Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and progress using data-driven practicesSupport students in academic skill development, organization, executive functioning, and self-advocacy.Utilize research-based instructional strategies and interventions across content areas.Prepare and maintain accurate IEP documentation, progress reports, and compliance records.Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary team collaboration.Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and services.Support inclusive practices and promote student independence and success in general education environments.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require):Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institutionValid state certification in Special Education (appropriate grade level and disability category)Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and service delivery modelsUnderstanding of curriculum standards and differentiation strategiesStrong collaboration, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordinglySEI Endorsement requiredLICENSING REQUIREMENTS: (positions in this class typically require):Licensing RequirementsAppropriate Teaching Certificate for position applied for from Arizona Department of Education (ADE)KEY COMPETENCIES: (position requirements at entry):Experience working in an LRC or resource modelKnowledge of co-teaching, inclusion practices, and progress monitoring systemsExperience supporting students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and mild to moderate needsFamiliarity with assistive technology and instructional accommodationsPhysical Requirements Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Position involves working in both general education classrooms and a resource setting May include standing, lifting, or assisting students with mobility, personal care, or toileting as needed Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
