CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant

As a C.N.A. at St. Andre, you will work with our nursing team in collaboration with other departments to enhance the lives of your residents while following the Mission and Core Values of our organization. The ‘Learn while you Earn’ program where we sponsor someone to get their CNA license while working on-site in a non-clinical capacity is still in affect. We also have a referral program!
Appropriate candidates will have current C.N.A. Certification in good standing and a desire to make a difference to those around them.

The shifts in need:
Full-Time evening.
Per Diem Day/Evening/Overnight.
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide your assigned residents with routine daily care in accordance with our established nursing care procedures, and as may be directed by your supervisors. Contribute to the philosophy and goals of the organization (i.e., positive and respectful attitude).
NURSING CARE FUNCTIONS:
Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty
Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care
Give or assist residents with bath functions
Give backrubs as instructed
Assist residents with dressing/undressing as necessary
Assist resident with hair care and nail care
Assist/complete residents with shaving
Keep residents dry
Make beds (occupied and unoccupied)
Position bedfast residents in correct and comfortable position regularly as instructed
Change bed linens. Keep linens tight to avoid wrinkles from forming under the resident
Add extras covers as needed
Assist resident with bowel and bladder functions
Maintain intake and output records as instructed
Keep incontinent residents clean and dry and protective barrier as directed
Check and report bowel movements and character stools; Collect specimens
Assist residents in preparing for medical tests/exams; Recreation Activities
Transport your assigned residents to/from appointments, activities, church and social programs, etc., as necessary
Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
Answer residents call bells promptly and regardless of assignment
Assist resident to walk with or without self-help devices
Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures
Measure and record temperatures, pulse, O2 stats, pulse, and respirations, (TPR’s), as instructed
Weigh and measure residents
Assist with the care of the dying resident; Provide post-mortem care
Check residents routinely to assure that their personal care needs are being met
Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers
Empty indwelling catheters daily
Provide daily perineal care
Assist with the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, treatments with scope of practice, etc.
Assist with therapy as requested
Observe all residents. Record and report data
Watch for and report any changes in room temperature, ventilation, lighting, etc.
Notify charge nurse of any medications found in residents room or in the residents possession unless the resident is self-administering of medication.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistance in the State of Maine.
Must have high school diploma or GED.
Possesses basic computer skills.
Must be able to write the English language in a legible and understandable manner.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
Must be willing to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
