We value practical problem-solving, strong client relationships, and a supportive, collaborative environment where attorneys have direct responsibility and meaningful autonomy.Position SummaryWe are seeking a California-licensed Attorney based in the Bay Area to join our team as an independent contractor and handle civil litigation matters with a particular emphasis on contract and real estate matters. The ideal candidate has strong experience in California state-court litigation, is comfortable managing cases independently, and can work closely with partners and staff in a small-firm setting.Key ResponsibilitiesCivil Litigation (California State Courts – Bay Area)Manage cases from intake through trial, with a focus on business, contract, property, and related civil disputes in Bay Area superior courts.Draft pleadings, demurrers, motions, oppositions, discovery, meet-and-confer correspondence, and settlement materials under the California Code of Civil Procedure and applicable local rules.Conduct depositions, mediations, mandatory settlement conferences, hearings, and other court appearances, both remote and in person as required.Support trial preparation, witness coordination, exhibit management, and courtroom proceedings.Contract (Transactions & Disputes)Analyze, draft, and revise contracts, settlement agreements, demand letters, and related business documents.Handle breach of contract matters, business tort claims, indemnity issues, and related pre-litigation or litigation strategy.Advise on contract interpretation, risk exposure, and practical resolution options.Real Estate (Bay Area Residential & Commercial)Handle disputes involving purchase and sale agreements, lease interpretation, easements, boundary and title issues, disclosure claims, and other real property matters.Draft and review real estate-related agreements, notices, and correspondence.Navigate local and state regulatory issues affecting Bay Area real estate disputes, including landlord-tenant issues when they intersect with broader civil litigation.QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law school.Active California Bar membership in good standing.5–10 years of relevant experience; experience across multiple listed practice areas is a strong plus.Familiarity with the local procedures, filing systems, and court cultures of Bay Area superior courts.Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.Excellent client-management and communication abilities.Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work efficiently in a small-firm environment.Experience with courtroom appearances, settlement conferences, and probate examiner interactions preferred.What We OfferCompetitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.A collegial, flexible, and supportive work environment.Significant attorney autonomy with opportunities for professional growth.How to ApplyPlease email your resume to admin@craigsmillerlaw.com with the subject line: Attorney Application – [Your Name].
