Gas Billing Analyst
Position Title: Gas Measurement Specialist Location: Detroit MI USA 48226-1203 (Hybrid)Duration: 3 months Contract on W2 (Possible Extension)Pay Rate: $30/hr. - $34/hr.Job Description:Validates gas measurement data for reasonableness and timeliness using the Gas Measurementsystem. Independently ensures defensible gas measurement data by leveraging industry standards forlarge volume customers, pipeline transportation interconnects, and production metering locations.May occasionally mentor other team members on best practices. Participates in the review andsupport of the company’s LAUF (lost and unaccounted) efforts. Span of control: 0; this is anindividual contributor jobKey Accountabilities:• Evaluates and identifies possible measurement anomalies and errors using trend charts.• Collaborates with field operations to quickly remediate equipment issues or to optimize fieldmeasurement conditions.• Implements approved enhancements to gas measurement systems to ensure compliance withchanging company and industry standards.• Prepares volumetric reports for internal and external gas customers.• Evaluates the usage of customers with volume corrector instruments (VCI) to ensure accuratemeasurement• Develops billing correction strategies in SAP billing system applications and implements with inputfrom others.• Seeks customer input on individual services provided to upstream and downstream businesspartners.• Performs daily/monthly system balancing analyses to identify lost gas.• May occasionally lead special cross-functional measurement projects to develop new or enhanceexisting processes.• Implements moderate to complex decisions with occasional oversight from supervision.Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting/Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or arelated discipline• 3 years of experience in gas measurement, or working in data analyticsPreferred• Experience in the accounting practices of utilities• Broad knowledge of gas transmission, distribution, and gathering systemsOther Qualifications• Proficient in Excel, Database systems• Proficient verbal, written, and presentation skills; communicates clearly, with credibility andconfidence• Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven abilities to defend and justifyrecommendations• Flexibility and the ability to work with shifting priorities as well as embrace new and evolvingresponsibilities• Ability to defend data adjustment decisions using company and national gas measurementstandards• Ability to analyze large datasets consisting of complex operational data and developrecommendationsCompetenciesAdditional InformationIncumbents may engage in all or some combination of the activities and accountabilities and utilize avariety of the competencies cited in this description depending upon the organization and role to whichthey are assigned.
