GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:Study Hall Monitor will support the administrators and classroom teachers in implementing TCA's academic programs and encouraging a positive learning environment. In addition, duties include maintaining a scholarly atmosphere in study hall classrooms during the school day and during an after-school lab with a variety of students, maintaining accurate attendance records, and providing general academic support and structure to individuals in the study hall classes. Job hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:Reports directly to the Junior High Administration. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Monitors junior high study hall classes to include the following: maintaining a scholarly environment, assuring compliance with study hall rules, proctoring make-up assessments, coordinating student assignment completion, working with students in one-on-one and small group situations, and providing academic support. Issues verbal warnings, reports misconduct, assigns disciplinary consequences, and requests assistance from appropriate personnel as required Monitors student behavior, ensuring compliance with TCA rules, policies, and regulations Attends pre-job training, on-going training, meetings and seminars as required during the school year in order to remain up-to-date of job procedures MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Performs other duties as required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:High school diploma or GED equivalent required Must possess or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification and maintain current certifications throughout employment EXPERIENCE:General experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of TCA operations, rules, regulations, and procedures Skills in operating computer and word processing Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to use telephone, computer, copier, and other office/classroom support equipment Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and co-workers Ability to be flexible in work demands Ability to provide a warm, caring attitude toward students, parents, and staff Ability to work well with students and parents from diverse backgrounds and populations Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to tutor students in various academic areas Ability to perform First Aid as needed SCOPE OF INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:Other departments Teachers Students Parents Supervisors Contacts are generally of a nature requiring disseminating and discussing routine information, but may occasionally involve sensitive issues or situations requiring a high level of confidentiality WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed primarily in a classroom setting Work may be performed in an outdoor setting to perform duties occasionally Work hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
