Controls Engineer

Position: Controls EngineerLocation: Ohio (Travel to Wisconsin & Michigan as needed)Employment Type: ContractWe are seeking experienced Controls Engineers to support automation and control system projects in a large-scale data center environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Allen-Bradley PLC programming, machine automation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and industrial control systems.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, program, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC control systems.Develop and modify PLC logic for new and existing automated equipment.Configure, test, and validate machine I/O during commissioning and startup.Perform PLC debugging, testing, and system optimization.Support commissioning, startup, and validation of automated systems.Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and operations teams to ensure seamless system integration.Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, VFDs, motors, and other industrial control devices.Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and document results.Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and production startup.Travel to project sites in Wisconsin and Michigan as required.Required Skills & Experience:Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000).Hands-on experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and debugging.Experience with machine I/O mapping, testing, and validation.Knowledge of industrial automation systems, control panels, sensors, VFDs, motors, and instrumentation.Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control drawings.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in data centers, manufacturing, industrial automation, or process automation environments.Familiarity with FactoryTalk View or other HMI/SCADA platforms.Experience with EtherNet/IP or other industrial networking technologies.
