We're always searching the globe for innovative, collaborative minds to join our best-in-class Aecon community!Position OverviewThe Claims Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of workers' compensation and occupational injury claims across Aecon's U.S. operations. This role ensures compliance with multi-state workers' compensation legislation, maintains accurate incident and claims documentation, coordinates early and safe return-to-work programs, and supports consistent compensation administration practices. The role works collaboratively with Operations and EHS teams, third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance partners, medical providers, and state agencies to achieve timely reporting and cost-effective claims management.Key ResponsibilitiesWorkers Compensation Claims ManagementDirect Claims reporting and management with Third Party Claims AdministratorSet up new workers' compensation claims, verify incident details, and confirm state jurisdiction.Review and maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready claim files.Monitor claims through closure and communicate regularly with insurance carriers and state agencies.Submit required state forms, wage statements, medical documents, and benefit notices on time.Prepare reports on claims trends, costs, and outcomes for senior leadership.Collaborate with EHS teams, insurers, and stakeholders to streamline claims processes.Return-to-Work (RTW) Program Coordination and Case ManagementEnsure Return-to-Work programs comply with federal and state regulations.Monitor injured worker progress and collaborate with key stakeholders to address barriers to return-to-work.Review modified-duty options, RTW plans, and ensure accurate documentation.Schedule and support RTW meetings to facilitate safe and timely return to work.Build and maintain relationships with clinics and occupational health providers.Support injury-prevention initiatives and deliver training related to RTW and claims procedures.Resource and support Pre-Hire Screening Programs.Required Knowledge and Experience3-5 years of experience in U.S. workers' compensation, disability management, claims management, or compensation administrationWorking knowledge of multi-state Workers' Compensation legislation, reporting requirements, and claim processes.Experience coordinating return-to-work (RTW) programs and communicating effectively with medical providers.Ability to interpret medical, regulatory, and compensation data and provide clear, actionable recommendations.Experience with incident or claims management systems; Cority experience is an asset.Experience with compensation survey tools or benchmarking methodologies (asset).High attention to detail and strong judgment regarding sensitive information.Excellent communication, problem-solving, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.Solid understanding of U.S. compensation regulations and state pay-transparency requirements.Proactive, collaborative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.25% travel to site offices requiredTraining and Designations:Occupational Health Nurse background an assetRegistered Workers' Compensation Specialist Professional Designation or EquivalentCertified Safety Professional or equivalent an assetOpen to candidate location - Dallas, Austin, Houston, Charlottle preferred however open to other locations as long as candidate is prepared to travel to offices across US as and when required.Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
