Director of Nursing Program/Faculty (non-tenure track, rank dependent upon education and experience)

DSU is looking to hire a Director for the Nursing Program/faculty member to teach in the Nursing program. The Director of Nursing oversees the curriculum, course scheduling, and faculty development as it pertains to special licensure and accreditation in the field of nursing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in a related field
Registered Nurse (RN) with a current, unencumbered license as recognized by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Individual must also continue to meet ND Board of Nursing education requirement of 12 Contact Hours for licensure renewal (every two years).
Two (2) years minimum experience in clinical nursing practice.
Knowledge and experience in acute care nursing across the lifespan.
Excellent computer and Internet skills
Ability to safely operate supplies and equipment utilized in patient care and/or classroom
Ability to organize/prioritize
Demonstrable strong interpersonal/oral/written communication skills
Demonstrable strong customer service skills
Detail oriented
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate in Nursing or related field
Experience in a supervisory role
Knowledge and experience in medical-surgical nursing
Experience teaching undergraduate level courses
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Academic Leadership
o Provide visionary leadership to shape the strategic direction of the Nursing program, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission and goals.
o Update necessary reporting and assessment to fall within the guidelines of the NDBON and ACEN.
o Finalize self-study reporting to the appropriate BON and ACEN accreditors.
o Oversite and execution of AASPN and BSN program accreditation and site visits from ACEN.
o Uphold accreditation by the ND BON for AASPN and BSN.
o Exploration of programming expansion under BON and ACEN standards (dual mission or remote access).
o Lead department faculty through accreditation processes.
o Provide training to potential successors in required accreditation and assessment procedures for the Nursing program.
Faculty Development
o Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse and highly qualified faculty.
o Set rigorous goals for direct reports and conduct annual reviews that result in improved performance by Nursing faculty.
o Promote faculty research, scholarship, and professional development opportunities.
o Conduct regular, rigorous performance evaluations, mentoring, and support for faculty and staff.
o Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives within the Nursing program, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
o Integrate nursing faculty as members of the School of Applied Sciences.
Administrative Oversight
o Work in collaboration with the Dean of SAS for the scheduling of courses and clinicals to optimize program delivery and complete the Nursing instruction worktable.
o Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulations relevant to nursing programs.
o Develop, monitor, and achieve or surpass recruiting, retention, and graduation goals for Nursing programs as they align with the School of Applied Science and institution's objectives.
o Support efforts to recruit and retain a diverse and robust student body.
Provide instruction in the various courses offered by DSU.
o Teach an equitable didactic and clinical class load and maintain expertise in area(s) of teaching responsibility;
o Prepare materials for content taught, according to department curricular plan;
o Assist with test monitoring, scoring, and reporting;
o Prepare the Nursing Learning and/or Simulation Labs for skill demonstrations and assist with student return demonstrations;
o Assume responsibility for stocking and maintaining Nursing Learning and/or Simulation Labs and providing resource materials for student use in clinical agencies;
o Supervise students’ didactic and clinical learning experiences, to provide opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills, values and competencies necessary for nursing practice;
o Conduct clinical pre- and post-conferences, facilitating communication, identification of therapeutic nursing interventions and critical thinking;
o Provide formative and summative course grades and evaluate students' clinical performance via the Clinical Performance Evaluation;
o Select and evaluate clinical sites;
o Review and revise curriculum and programs to ensure that offerings are relevant and meet the needs of the healthcare community;
o Be available to students and provide assistance;
o Teach requisite credit hours producing target total production set in DSU policy.
o Physical demands for didactic teaching are as needed to carry out the given duty; they are not excessive and are largely controlled by the employee.
o Physical demands for clinical teaching include gross and fine motor skills including but not limited to
moving objects 10-50 pounds; push/pull 25 pounds; stand, sustain repetitive movements for 6-12 hours including walking, sitting, balancing, twisting, reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, crouching to provide patient care.
Sensory functions include intact hearing, vision, depth perception, tactile and smell senses.
Cognitive functions include reading/understanding written/electronic documents and arithmetic competence.
Behavioral and emotional stability with interpersonal skills, analytical and critical thinking, and professional conduct functions.
Effective communication skills includes ability to convey information, speak and write in English to effectively communicate with students, patients, families, and others on the health care team via spoken/written/computer documentation.
Ability to function in varied clinical environments also includes potential exposure to diseases, bio/electrical hazards, and the necessity to use various machines, supplies, and equipment properly and safely while performing patient care.
Provide evidence of MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, DPT/Tdap, Polio immunizations and TB screening; annual Influenza immunizations; criminal background checks; and drug/alcohol screening as required by respective agencies.
Student Success
o Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters student success, clinical competency, and readiness for healthcare professions.
o Engage with students, address their concerns, and advocate for their needs.
o Develop and maintain strong partnerships with healthcare institutions and organizations to enhance students' clinical and professional experiences.
o Monitor and analyze student outcomes to improve program effectiveness.
o Develop a retention plan in collaboration with faculty in the academic unit to improve student completion and success.
Community Engagement
o Build and maintain partnerships with local healthcare providers, hospitals, and community health organizations.
o Represent the college and the university at relevant healthcare conferences, industry meetings, and events.
o Collaborate with healthcare leaders and organizations to provide students with practical experiences and clinical rotations.
o Work with local high schools to foster relationships to create pipelines for potential students.
Research and Innovation
o Encourage and support research and innovation in nursing.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.
o Seek grant opportunities and partnerships to enhance research initiatives.
o Maintain an innovative approach to course delivery, meeting students where they are.
o Participate in relevant professional development activities to stay abreast in the field of nursing, and as required for the maintenance of professional licensure.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
Salary range of $80,000-$100,000/annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience
