TRENTON SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICTJOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Trenton Elementary School Bookkeeper for 2026-2027 School YearTerm of Employment: 200 Day Assignment Immediate Supervisor: Trenton Elementary School PrincipalPOSITION DESCRIPTION: Trenton Elementary School accounting of school finances under the practices of the Tennessee Internal School Uniform Accounting Policy Manual for revenues and expenditures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Manages all general accounting processes and procedures as required by the regulatory agenciesMaintains the general ledger; provides financial reports; ensures timely payment of school's accounts payable, and ensures appropriate resolution of any issues which may be identified by external audits. Attendance is an essential function of this job.Prepares financial reports to the Principal and Central OfficeMaintains cash flow to maximize use of the school's funds and ensure financial resources are availableMaintains knowledge of accounting procedures required by regulatory agenciesMaintains general accounting softwareGood communication skills including: taking messages, making announcements, sending emails, faxing, and copyingProficient computer skills especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)Other duties as assignedJOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks. Specific skill-based competencies are required to perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment such as personal computer, printer, scanner, and facsimile. Specific skills-based competencies are required in utilizing pertinent software applications, preparing and maintaining accurate records, and planning and managing projects. KNOWLEDGE is required to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies to perform the functions of the job include: business telephone etiquette, concepts of grammar and punctuation, and presentation skills.ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities; gather, collate, and classify data. Flexibility is needed to work independently or with others. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communications with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality, meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team and working with frequent interruptions; maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information; and ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
