Job Overview:
This position is a clinician with advanced education and clinical practice. Under direct physician supervision, this position may manage patients, providing primary health care and case management, focusing on disease prevention, wellness, and management of minor, chronic, and acute illness in collaboration with the primary care physician. This position also works in close collaboration with the entire multi-disciplinary team to establish realistic goals and a thorough plan of care. Prescribes medications for patients under supervision of a board certified physician.
Job Requirements: Doctoral Degree Master's Degree in Physician Assistant; or equivalent education and experience as formerly required by Ohio law prior to 2007 Basic Life Support for Healthcare (Required) Passing grade on initial NCCPA board exam (Required) Prescriptive Authority Recertification every 6 years Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal relations and problem solving Strong interest in prevention Basic Life Support (BLS) Providers Required NCCPA certification Required State Physician Assistant License Required Job Responsibilities: Performs periodic medical evaluations and initial and follow-up injury care; orders and interprets laboratory tests and examinations to determine treatment; orders medication and other forms of treatment in conjunction with physician; follows the progress of the patients and makes changes in treatment as indicated; applies local anesthetic; examines and cleans wounds; incises and drains abscesses; sutures; makes appropriate legible records of findings during examinations to be reviewed and countersigned by the supervising physician; and performs regular duties as delegated by the supervising physician. Quality Assurance - Reviews statistical reports relative to occupational medicine operations; participates in and assists with Quality Assurance processes; and demonstrates initiative in leading staff in quality of care issues. Recommends potential means of growth and development for new and/or existing services within occupational medicine; promotes, supports, and engages in projects and activities which will develop or improve occupational medicine service delivery; attends required and recommended internal and external meetings; participates in development and presentation of educational programs for staff; and assists in the orientation process for new physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Regularly calls client representatives upon seeing an employee/patient for initial injuries and change of duty status and meets with employers to discuss health and safety needs. Conducts workplace walk throughs and other on-site assessments; participates in the development and presentation of educational programs to employers; and promotes, supports, and engages in activities that will develop or improve occupational medicine services delivered to client companies. Works with the Facility Medical Director to ensure practice is consistent with medical policy and professional standards in occupational medicine and standards of TriHealth; cooperates and participates in the development, implementation and revision of policies affecting medical practice and the quality of occupational health care; and participates in and assists with in-service and continuing education programs for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses.
